Kangaroos 3-5 year olds

The Kangaroo Room, catering to children aged 3-5, is known as a Casa dei Bambini, or House of Children. This prepared environment is designed to be homelike, inviting, aesthetically pleasing, and well-organized, ensuring that children can learn skills applicable at home and in the wider community. The environment fosters opportunities for freedom of movement and choice, allowing children to explore and engage with their surroundings independently.

The program in the Casa dei Bambini builds on the knowledge and skills cultivated by previous programs, fostering confidence, independence, problem-solving abilities, creativity, and effectiveness in the real world. A key aspect of the program is the individualized learning approach, where the Guide meets each child at their current level of understanding. This ensures that the tasks presented are challenging enough to be engaging but not so difficult that they undermine the child’s confidence and drive.

The philosophy of Peace Education is deeply integrated into the Casa Program. The Guide not only teaches Grace and Courtesy but also leads by example, demonstrating these principles in daily interactions. In this nurturing environment, children begin to understand that their actions matter and that their choices can have a significant impact on themselves and others in the community. This realization helps to cultivate a sense of responsibility and interconnectedness, fundamental aspects of the Casa dei Bambini experience.

The Nurturing Environment

Children are equipped with the foundational knowledge and skills they need to transition confidently to any school setting. Students develop a positive and confident attitude toward school through their holistic engagement with the curriculum and practical school readiness skills. We believe that ‘real life’ experiences and hands-on learning best prepare children for the world in general, we also understand that mainstream learning has developed tools for efficiency. In this regard, we observe individual children’s interests, strengths and challenges and respectfully guide children’s acquisition of knowledge and skills through the use of Montessori materials and curriculum tailored to their needs ensuring children in our care are able to adapt well to whichever educational system they choose after their journey with us.
