That is our focus here at Monash Early Learning Centre. Our aim is to help children get a great start which will help them build a good momentum in their early years. This momentum can make their present and later years much more fun and fulfilling. 

For them to build a good momentum and get a great start, one way is to give children enough freedom to explore without much supervision from an adult. With this freedom, children can freely explore their interests and practice their independence. This approach in education is called the Montessori method. 

This approach results in several benefits such as: 

• Emphasising individual–paced learning (children learn and develop at different rates) 
• Fostering independence 
• Promoting empathy and a passion for social justice 
• Developing a joy for continuous learning 

Through the Montessori curriculum, children are able to learn at their own pace. There will be no pressure and instead, the emphasis is on giving them adequate support and freedom as they learn and explore. 

Aligned with the Montessori National Curriculum and the Early Years Learning Framework, the Monash Early Learning Centre has designed age-appropriate programs: 

• Nido program (0 to 1 year) 
• Infant program (1 to 2 years) 
• Toddlers program (2 to 3 years) 
• Casa program (3 to 5 years) 

The overall aim is to help children get a great start in life while having fun. One reason this is possible is that the early learning centre regularly facilitates playful learning experiences. In addition, individualised attention helps children get the timely support they need as their learning progresses. 

Through movement, exploration and interaction, children can initiate and pursue activities that can support their physical, cognitive, social and emotional development. This way, they will receive adequate preparation for the big school and beyond.
